Discrete element modelling of mechanical behaviour of pervious concrete

This study proposes an alternative numerical strategy that combines different DEM models to simulate the compaction process and predict mechanical performance of pervious concrete. An experimental program was performed assess compressive tensile behaviours concrete mixes with 3 aggregate-to-paste content subjected 3° compaction. A novel constitutive law proposed particle-particle interaction at a meso-structural level. Results show this simulation is capable predicting performances while capturing fracture pattern observed in program. opens up possibility performing parametric design mix composition production processes before undertaking verifications, which might reduce number tests needed achieve better suits requirements each application.
